When I was competing I always found it helpful to read the constructive opinions of people in the audience. So... I decided to share some advice with the contestants that might help you on your quest for the crown.
Teens:
1. Allison -- for the interview outfit I would suggest purchasing nude colored shoes and considering a brighter colored suit; performed a monologue that was well done but could use some more expression; relax and enjoy your time on stage during gown
2. Kendall -- the interview outfit (pants and shirt with vest) was very cute and stylish but a bit too casual for my taste; very genuine in onstage interview answer, watch saying "um"; excellent vocalist, sang "Over the Rainbow"; keep up the good work, will be a definite contender at state
3. Sarah -- relax during onstage interview, take your time; very nice lyrical dance to "He Lives in You" from the Lion King (which I just saw in Columbus on Friday!), could use a little bit more intense facial expressions; really liked the evening gown (white with a pink bow)
Miss:
1. Brittany -- I would look for a different interview suit in a color that really pops on stage; I am not a fan of tankinis for competiton, a 1-piece in a halter style would be very flattering; sang "I'll Stand By You"really liked the talent gown, consider using a mic stand?
2. Heather -- Swimsuit winner, but I would like to see a different color SS, good presentation; I love the dance it is very cute and entertaining but I think you could put in more difficult content [you can do it, so you might as well show it off :)]; I would suggest choosing a new gown in a richer color in a bit more sophisticated style
3. Monica -- nice onstage answer giving an example of platform work, would suggest putting more color into interview outfit; consider a spray tan or sunless tanner; flag routine -- I am a former flag girl, so I appreciated it! Just watch your facial expressions -- keep up a confident smile throughout the entire routine
4. Alicia -- love the hair! interview suit appeared a little bit too big from stage, consider alterations; watch the facial expressions during the tap dance -- keep up the energy throughout and keep a confident expression throughout; great improvements-- keep up the good work!
5. Jenna -- don't have much to say because I think she is fantastic! Not the best performance of her song last night, but overall great job!
6. Ashley -- cute interview dress; like the new SS (red with patterned trim); new lyrical dance to "Slow Me Down" -- very pretty costume, but I prefer the old dance "Hide and Seek" I think it was more interesting ; very pretty white EG; really like the new wardrobe choices! Hope to see you on the Miss Ohio stage this year!
